Shellf is built by one person, in the open. Here is what has changed, newest first.

  1. v0.9.4

    Android

    Reading stats arrive, two-page spreads join up properly in landscape, and the library scan no longer slows to a crawl on very large folders.

    New

    • Reading stats. A daily streak, pages read, time spent and a simple weekly chart. All of it is worked out on the phone and none of it leaves.
    • Two-page spread detection in comics. Turn the phone sideways and matching pages join into one image instead of showing half a drawing twice. Can be turned off per series when the guess is wrong.
    • Per-series reading direction. Right-to-left is now remembered for each series rather than being one global switch.

    Fixed

    • Scanning a folder with several thousand files no longer freezes the library screen.
    • Covers for AZW3 files now show up instead of falling back to a generic icon.
    • Fixed a crash when opening a CBR whose pages were numbered without leading zeroes.
    • The chapter slider no longer jumps to the wrong position after changing font size mid-book.

    All

    The Jellyfin plugin reaches its first public release, so reading position now follows you between your phone and everything else.

    New

    • Jellyfin plugin, first public release. Install it on your server, connect from the app, and your Books and Comics libraries show up on the shelf.
    • Reading position syncs both ways. Position is tracked in the text rather than by page number, so a different font size on a different device still lands you on the right sentence.
    • Deletions stay deleted. Remove a book offline and it does not reappear the next time the app reconnects.

    Changed

    • Downloads are per book and per volume rather than whole-library, so a large comic series does not have to live on the phone all at once.

    Fixed

    • Connecting to a server over a self-signed certificate no longer fails silently.
    • Progress on a book read entirely offline is now sent up on the next connection instead of being overwritten by the server’s older value.
